Elemental HERO Burstinatrix
E・HEROバーストレディ
Yu-Gi-Oh! (遊☆戯☆王)
First appearance: 2004
Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time before I'd tie up a Yu-Gi-Oh card—although I have to admit I was expecting Dark Magician Girl first. ;)
This is a rather unique character design to work with, between the two skin colors, the complicated helmet and the hair that kinda looks like a fan. I hope I did a decent job with it—but certainly it's no worse than some of the screenshots I found of the anime. :P
I don't like drawing chains because it's very time-consuming and finicky, but I felt like the design was screaming for them, so I did it anyway. I eased the burden by coming up with a new technique in CSP: draw the chain links with a paintbrush on two separate layers (separated into even and odd links), then use the layer properties to auto-generate an outline, and then use layer masks to erase parts of the links that should be obscured without affecting said outline. It works a lot better than expected, and I hope to use it again in the future, provided it works at different sizes too.

DMG is always a good choice for being a damsel. Burstinatrix? She's a new one for me but I approve her current position as damsel as well. :D
Burstinatrix is a very underused damsel! Now if only someone would just make a full-body pic with her...
Nice to see Burst Lady getting some love!
