2023/05/11: For added context, this is based on a hilarious scene from Shantae: Risky's Revenge, except I swapped out "kiss" for "mmph". I don't think the joke works as well this way, I just wanted to tie up Shantae.

SEMI-related story. I thought Shantae was gagged in the original game. Someone had to point out the pixel I was referring to as being common in her sprite for it to sink in that she actually WASN'T.
In short what I'm saying is that should have been like this and WayForward ALSO needs to hire a Rosie immediately.
I think they just didn't bother drawing the gag because she's clearly mmphing in that scene
See, that's WHY I thought that was a cleave gag. She's definitely gagged, they just... didn't draw it. And that kinda gets under my skin. It honestly wouldn't have taken much more effort to put a gag there, I imagine. Hell, in the older days of the AVGDID board, I did some edits from NES games to add gags, and while they weren't spectacular, some of them kinda blended in with the art. Granted, this was GBC and not NES, but I can't imagine there being much more effort.
